Time running out to earn highest 70,000 bonus miles with the United MileagePlus Explorer card

As I posted at the beginning of this month, Chase was offering a limited time increased sign up bonus for the United MileagePlus Explorer card. The normal public offer is for 50,000 bonus miles but this limited time offer is for 70,000 miles which is the highest I've seen for this card. However, the offer is set to end tomorrow on June 30, 2016 so if you plan to take advantage of this offer you have to apply now.

To earn the 70,000 bonus miles you must spend $3,000 in the first 3 months your account is open. You can also earn an additional 5,000 bonus miles after you add an authorized user and they make a purchase within this same time frame. Just a brief reminder, here are some of the benefits of the card:

This card does carry a $95 annual fee which is not waived the first year and this offer is set to expire at the end of the month on June 30th. Just a reminder that Chase has reportedly implemented their "5/24 rule" to this card as well as almost all of their other cards except for a select few so if you've applied for 5 or more cards in the past 2 years it might not be worth taking a hard credit hit just to get rejected.

Bottom Line

Based on the average accepted valuation of United miles of around 1.5 cents per point the sign up bonus alone is worth $1,125 (75,000 x 0.015). However, there are many instances in which you can get more than 1.5 cents per point in value making this sign up bonus even more valuable such as their limited time discounted saver awards to Europe for only 45,000 miles. Again, this offer is reportedly targeted so you will need to log into your United MileagePlus account to see if you were one of the lucky few. And just a reminder this offer is set to expire tomorrow so you must act quickly if you plan to take advantage of this limited time promotion.
