Targeted United offer: 70,000 bonus miles with the United MileagePlus Explorer card, highest ever

So it's been a while since I posted, I never realized how difficult it would be keeping up with this on a regular basis. Much has happened lately so hopefully you are keeping up with all the latest news through other means. I received an email today for an offer of 70,000 bonus miles with the MileagePlus Explorer card which is the highest I've seen so I thought I'd share.

The offer is for 70,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months your account is open. You can also earn an additional 5,000 bonus miles after you add an authorized user and they make a purchase within this same time frame. Just a brief reminder, here are some of the benefits of the card:

This card does carry a $95 annual fee which is not waived the first year and this offer is set to expire at the end of the month on June 30th. Just a reminder that Chase has reportedly implemented their "5/24 rule" to this card as well as almost all of their other cards except for a select few so if you've applied for 5 or more cards in the past 2 years it might not be worth taking a hard credit hit just to get rejected.

Bottom Line

Based on the average accepted valuation of United miles of around 1.5 cents per point the sign up bonus alone is worth $1,125 (75,000 x 0.015). However, there are many instances in which you can get more than 1.5 cents per point in value making this sign up bonus even more valuable. Again, this offer is reportedly targeted so you will need to log into your United MileagePlus account to see if you were one of the lucky few. It is definitely worth taking advantage of.
