My first attempt at blogging...

So I want to use this post as an attempt to explain the purpose of forming this blog and share a little bit about my background in order to give you a better understanding of what to expect in the future. Although I've been following the points and miles game for about a year now I still would consider myself as having only a beginner/intermediate level of knowledge so I will be writing from that perspective. I know just enough to be dangerous but am definitely no expert when it comes to searching for award space or booking on partner airlines and I actually just booked my first transatlantic flight last week using points to fly to Germany on United.

I also don't follow the rule book when it comes to the traditional way of playing the game and I will often book hotels with no loyalty program or one that is unheard of just because they are the cheapest option despite having top tier elite status in all the major US chains (Hilton, Starwood, Hyatt, etc). I also am a frequent flyer of Delta despite their continued de-valuations mainly because they have a decent hard product and also because I have the American Express Platinum card so I can get into their Delta Sky Clubs when I fly with them and the only lounge at my home airport in Indianapolis (IND) happens to be a Delta Sky Club.

I do have some favorite travel blogs that I follow regularly and wanted to share in case you wanted a more advanced perspective. They are:

One Mile At A Time
The Points Guy

Finally, I wanted to make the financial disclosure that I receive no type of compensation for any of the information I post and everything is strictly based from my personal opinion. If you have any questions or recommendations about specific topics to talk about please feel free to either email me or post in the comments section. I will try to keep this blog updated as much as possible although I can't make any promises.
